Educational Advancement Endowment Funds
Through the generosity of members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, as well as community members, with a passion for ensuring young women received financial assistance to further their education that facilitated the establishing of Beta Psi Omega’s first Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Endowment Fund.
The first endowment was established in 1992 and named in honor of our late members and former South Central Regional Directors Dr. Connie Yerwood Conner and Olive Durden Brown. The Conner-Brown Endowment fund was capitalized in 2013. To further our ability to provide scholarships, more Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancements Endowments have been established. The second endowment was created and capitalized in 2013 and named in honor of Beta Psi Omega member and former State Representative and Speaker Pro Tem and Diamond member, Dr. Wilhelmina Ruth Fitzgerald Delco. The third endowment was established and capitalized in 2020 and named in honor of our Beta Psi Omega member, Joya T. Hayes who was elected as the 26th South Central Regional Director. A fourth endowment was also established in honor of Ms. Hayes in 2023, making two for Joya T. Hayes. A fifth endowment was established in 2022 in honor of the late Marjon King Christopher to establish a music scholarship at Huston-Tillotson University.
